Musical Opportunities at Brimsham Green School

‘Pupils who learn musical instruments outperform students who do not learn music in areas of intelligence, developmental skills, academic performance and social skills. Furthermore, they are able to transfer their music knowledge and skills to other areas of academic excellence.‘  (British Journal of Music Education 1999)

Our aim is to give all our students a rich and varied musical experience, regardless of their background or previous experience. Brimsham Green School has a proud tradition of music-making with regular opportunities to perform, both locally and abroad, in numerous musical ensembles including concert bands and choirs.

Learning an instrument offers huge benefits as discussed here:

This week, students have a number of opportunities to get involved with music here at Brimsham Green. Year 7 students will be taking part in a singing workshop during the school day on Tuesday 6th September. Furthermore, all students are invited to come to our ‘Instrument Taster Sessions’ on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th September at lunchtime in M15 (bandroom). Students will be able to try out various instruments including violins, trumpets, flutes, saxophones and clarinets. Our GCSE and A level students will be on hand to guide them and also discuss the benefits of joining one of our many ensembles.

If your child would like to receive instrumental or vocal lessons, please complete a permission slip or contact Mr Balcombe:

Highlights of previous concerts such as our tour to West Coast Netherlands can be found on the school’s facebook page.
