Key Stage 4 Results
We are really thrilled to be able to celebrate our Year 11 students’ successful completion of their Key Stage 4 qualifications, by sharing with you their excellent academic achievements following the release of grades today.
Kim Garland, Headteacher, said, “All students have worked with real grit and determination, not just this year, but throughout their Key Stage 4 studies. Imagine not knowing whether you were working towards an examination or not. Imagine needing to develop good competency with technology first, so that you could access your remote lessons. And then imagine completing ongoing assessments over many months, knowing everything you did counted. I am full of admiration for Brimsham Green’s Year 11 students – they have learned that they can cope with life’s uncertainty, they have learned that they can manage anxiety, and excel regardless! I know that this independence and resilience will stand them in great stead, not just as they progress into Year 12, but throughout their lives.”
“Alongside praising all students, I want to recognise the particular achievement of students who have made absolutely exceptional progress from their KS2 starting points. Therefore huge congratulations to: Devon Birch, Kofi McCalla, Jasmine Phillpott, Henrik Hegadus, Katesley Arriola, Harry Lynham, Jessica Carey-Ward, Josh Milton, Martha Bryant, and George Stiff. As a school community we are so very proud of you; your ambition has been clear from your very first day at Brimsham.”
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic, however students’ grades have been both internally and externally rigorously scrutinised. Consequently students, their parents, and future employers and universities can be secure in the knowledge that where students have been awarded an A* or Distinction*, for example, these are legitimate results.
With this in mind, Brimsham Green is delighted to celebrate individual students’ absolutely exceptional achievement. Congratulations to Jolie Dyer (10 x Grade 9s), Charlotte Hutchinson (9 x Grade 9s and 1 x 8), Cameron Stillie (7 x Grade 9s and 3 Grade 8s), Phoebe Ashley (5x Grade 9s/Distinction* and 5 x Grade 8s) and Sophie Archer, Nathaniel Lewis, Caitlin Lord and Beatrice Norris, who all achieved eight or more GCSEs/BTECs at Grade 8 or above. We are equally proud of the following students who all attained 10 qualifications at Grade 7 or above: Louise Gregor, Amelia Long, Georgia Reed, Alyssa Wigginton and Rudy Harvey. To achieve this highly speaks volumes about these young people’s aspiration, and we eagerly anticipate what more they will achieve in the future.
Students receiving their GCSE results today are enrolling at Cotswold Edge for September 2021. This is being done by appointment, and if you have studied elsewhere for Year 11 but are keen to join us, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further details. There are still places available to students who are undecided about their next steps, and all students are welcome, regardless of where they studied in Year 11.
Year 5 and 6 students who are at the very beginning of their prospective journeys into secondary education are warmly invited to find out what makes Brimsham Green so special by attending our Open Evening on Thursday, 16 September. Full details will be available on the school’s website. Contact email@example.com for further information.
