Cotswold Edge's Students Celebrate A-Level Success!

Cotswold Edge’s Students Celebrate A-Level Success!

PRESS RELEASE - Thursday 15th August 2024

Cotswold Edge’s Students Celebrate A-Level Success!

Cotswold Edge Sixth Form, the consortium of Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury School and Yate Academy, is delighted to celebrate the combined achievements of their Year 13 students, following the release of their examination grades today.

Kim Garland (Headteacher, Brimsham Green School) said, “We are delighted that students’ hard work and determination has paid off for them today, enabling them to pursue their passions and realise their ambitions. The vast majority of students have already heard that they have secured their first choice university and degree courses (with many students having had unconditional offers), and a significant number have signed their apprenticeship contracts, so celebrations are in full swing! Students are looking forward to what September holds for them, and we are really thrilled for them and their families – students’ success is very much a combined effort.”

Cotswold Edge’s vibrant curriculum offer has enabled students to study the combination of subjects that is right for them, with many students opting to expand their A Level and BTEC curriculum with additional qualifications in the Extended Project, and AS Levels. In addition, their enriched curriculum has included opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, and so students are well prepared for independent study, having developed the values of resilience and reflection. This has resulted in many notable successes, with students now able to move on to the next stage of their education or career pathways.

Registered at Brimsham Green, but taught across all three schools, we are delighted to celebrate the following students’ individual successes:

  • Owen Walker is pursuing his passion for History at the University of Bristol, having secured A*AB; (Geography, History, and Mathematics);
  • Ruby Fuller gained A*BB (Drama, English Literature, and History) and so will be studying for a prestigious Solicitor Level 7 Apprenticeship (Masters Level) with Burgess Salmon;
  • Wilson Sillar’s AAB grades (Maths, Physics, and Chemistry) are enabling him to take up his place studying Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Warwick; Wilson’s additional C grade in Further Maths AS Level is going to support his studies well;
  • Joining Wilson at the University of Warwick is Ella Wright; her AAB grades in English Literature, History and Religious Studies are enabling her to complete a challenging Joint Honours degree in English and History;
  • Elizabeth Ferguson is set to take up her degree place at the University of Cardiff, studying Biomedical Sciences, having attained AAB in Biology, Chemistry and Music. Elizabeth’s A grade in the Extended Project Qualification means that Elizabeth is already well-prepared for independent study and research;
  • Oscar Paget’s ABB grades (Maths, Economics, and Religious Studies) mean that he is able to pursue his ambition to study Mathematics at the University of Exeter; undoubtedly, his additional A grade in Further Mathematics AS Level is going to give him an advantaged start to his degree.
