A-Level Success at Brimsham Green: Cotswold Edge Year 13 students excel!
Following the release of A Level, BTEC, CTEC and EPQ results today, Brimsham Green is proud to celebrate the successes of our Sixth Form students. 20% of all student’s grades were either A* or A!
Cotswold Edge’s vibrant curriculum offer has enabled students to study an engaging combination of subjects, with many students opting to extend their A Level and BTEC/CTEC curriculum with additional academic qualifications in the Extended Project, and AS Levels.
"Our students’ commitment has truly paid off – their results have secured them their first-choice university places, and enabled others to sign highly sought-after apprenticeship contracts. The increase in A* and A grades is especially pleasing. 90% Quite rightly, students are celebrating!
There is so much more to Sixth Form, of course,
and we are confident in the knowledge that students are going out into the worlds of work, university and apprenticeship studies, well-prepared for what their futures hold. They take their intellect, their enthusiasm, and their determination – they will improve the new communities that they join. We couldn’t be prouder of our students, their families, and our staff; this success is a real team effort." — Kim Garland, Headteacher, Brimsham Green School
Congratulations to all students who have received their grades today, notably:
- Jack Clark’s three Grade As at A Level have secured his place at the University of Bristol, and Jack is looking forward to studying for a degree in Economics.
- Evie Dyer excelled in her A Level studies, gaining two A*s and an A Grade. Evie’s passion for the environment really came to life through her EPQ, though, where she explored the extent to which the insect family of Hymenoptera should be protected in the UK and the associated environmental benefits of doing so. Evie was awarded an A* for this work, and she will now be pursuing her passion for Wildlife Conservation at Bath Spa University.
- Along with A and B grades in Religious Studies and Moving Image, Marley McCalla’s interest in all-things film-related saw him achieve an A in Film Studies. Marley will continue to pursue this interest at the University of the West of England, where his degree will be in Media Production.
- A highly sought-after degree course in Architectural Engineering at the University of Sheffield awaits Niamh Meredith Clarke. Niamh performed exceptionally at A Level, gaining three Grade As. Niamh took the opportunity to also study for an Extended Project Qualification alongside her A Levels though, and pursued her interest in whether nature or nurture is the more significant influence on serial killers!
- Leonardo, the Aerospace, Defence and Security company, will be joined by Harry Norris in September, as they have offered Harry a degree-equivalent Level 6 Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. Very well done on your A/A/B grades, Harry.
- Harrison Smith absolutely excelled in his studies, studying four A Levels (1 x A*, and three As), as well as an AS Level and an EPQ (entitled: To what extent do mental health conditions contribute to the frequency that the Call of the Void occurs?) The University of Exeter are fortunate that Harry has chosen them as his place of study. Harry will be working towards a degree in Mathematics.
- Keara Hobbs’ two A Levels (B/B) and her Distinction* in CTEC Sport and Physical Activity have prepared her well for studying Sports Therapy at the University of Gloucester. Thank you, Keara, for everything you contributed to Sport at Brimsham Green over the last seven years.
- Dakota Offer will be pursuing her passion for Egyptology and Ancient History when she studies at the University of Liverpool. In addition to studying three A Levels (A/B/C), Dakota took the opportunity to gain an EPQ. Naturally, her chosen field was ‘Why did the Ancient Greeks worship the Gods of Greek mythology despite their controversial actions?’
