Computing

Welcome to the Computing Homepage

Intent: At Brimsham, our computing education is designed to empower students with computational thinking and creativity, enabling them to comprehend and influence the world around them.

Computing is intricately connected to Mathematics, Science, Design, and Technology, offering insights into natural and artificial systems. Central to computing is Computer Science, where students learn the principles of information and computation, understand digital systems, and apply this knowledge through programming.

Aligned with our school values of Independence, Aspiration, Resilience, Reflection, Responsibility, Respect, and Enquiry, our curriculum aims to:

  • Independence: Encourage students to explore and solve problems using computational thinking independently.
  • Aspiration: Inspire students to aim high and innovate through their understanding of digital systems and programming.
  • Resilience: Equip students with the skills to persevere in coding and debugging tasks, fostering resilience in problem-solving.
  • Reflection: Encourage students to reflect on their learning and improve their coding practices and digital creations.
  • Responsibility: Foster responsible use of information technology, emphasizing ethical considerations and digital citizenship.
  • Respect: Promote respectful collaboration in group projects and coding activities, valuing diverse perspectives and contributions.
  • Enquiry: Cultivate a spirit of curiosity and exploration in exploring new technologies and applications of computing.

Building on this foundation, students develop proficiency in information technology to create programs, systems, and digital content. Our curriculum ensures that students become digitally literate, capable of using and expressing themselves through ICT in preparation for the future workplace and active engagement in a digital society.
