Art Intent: At Brimsham, our Art curriculum is designed to nurture students' independence, empowering them to express their unique aspiration through a diverse range of 2D and 3D mediums, including drawing, painting, print-making, textiles, digital media, and ceramics. Through this process, students cultivate resilience as they experiment with different techniques and styles. Our curriculum encourages students to engage in reflection; evaluating their own work and that of other artists to develop a deeper understanding of the creative process. By studying a broad range of cultures and artists, students assume responsibility for their own learning, making informed decisions about their artistic direction. As they navigate the creative journey, students demonstrate respect for the artistic traditions that have shaped the subject, while also embracing Enquiry as they explore new techniques and mediums.

D&T Intent: At Brimsham, our Design and Technology curriculum fosters students' independence and aspiration, as they develop the skills and knowledge needed to bring their ideas to life. We cultivate resilience, reflection and responsibility as students evaluate their own designs and identifying areas for improvement. Students engage in enquiry-based learning, experimenting with new materials and techniques, learning from failures and setbacks along the way. As they take ownership of their learning, students develop a sense of respect for the design process and its impact on society.

Food Preparation and Nutrition Intent: At Brimsham, our food preparation and nutrition curriculum is designed to empower students with the skills and knowledge to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating.  Through hands-on experiences, students will develop independence in preparing meals, and aspire to new culinary heights. They will learn to navigate kitchen challenges with resilience, reflecting on their experiences to refine their skills. By mastering cooking techniques, students will take responsibility for their own health and well-being, demonstrating respect for the cultural significance of food and its production.

Engineering Intent: At Brimsham, our Engineering curriculum fosters students' independence and aspiration, as they develop the skills and knowledge needed to tackle complex engineering challenges. We cultivate resilience, reflection and responsibility as students evaluate their own performance and identifying areas for improvement. Students engage in enquiry-based learning, experimenting with new materials and techniques, learning from failures and setbacks along the way. By combining these values, we equip our students with the skills and mindset needed to become capable engineers, ready to engineer solutions for themselves and others.
