Year 12 AS Summer Holiday Assignment

This work is in preparation for your initial coursework assignment, which will be done in the autumn term. It is essential therefore, that you do this work in order to begin the assignment from a position of strength. The work you do during the summer holiday will count towards your final coursework grade.

UNIT 1

1/ Collect your own photographs of a theme of which interests you e.g. advertising, natural objects, landscapes, cityscapes, human forms, random objects to do with identity. These must be your own photographs and not images collected from the internet. Make sure if you are taking the pictures outside that there is strong sunlight to produce shadows. If you are taking pictures inside make sure there is a direct light on the objects.

2/ Produce 2 A2 development sheets on two artists you have found which have worked in a similar field to your above theme. If you struggle with finding linked artists pick two of your favourite artists.

3/ Visit a gallery/ museum and create a home made sketchbook based on your visit. Add in visual studies, postcards, pictures and written work based on what you have seen.

PRESENTATION

On your first lesson  which will be on Wednesday 6th September periods 1 &2 there will be presentations showing the rest of the students your ideas and work. You will have to bring your photographs, 2 A2 design sheets on artist research and your work from the gallery. You will be given ten minutes each to discuss your research.
