Year 7 Catch-up
The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 students who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).
During academic year 2017-18 Brimsham Green School received a total of £14,100 catch-up premium which we used to help fund smaller group classes that focused on literacy and numeracy. The cost to supply teaching staff and resources for these classes was £25,784.
Catch up funding impact data for 2017-18 academic year:
- Maths Intervention: 71% of students receiving intervention were working at or above their target level by the end of Year 7 with 18% making above expected progress.
- English Intervention: 70% of students receiving intervention were working at or above their target level by the end of Year 7. Over an 8 month period students' average reading accuracy improved by 15 months, allowing them to close the gap between their actual reading and chronological age.
The funding for academic year 2018-19 is £13,700 and we will continue to support identified Year 7 students via small class groups.
