Governing Body

The Governing Body has the responsibility for ensuring the good conduct and high standards of educational provision and achievement throughout the school. Governors do this by setting the strategic direction of the school, ensuring the quality of the education is high and by holding the Headteacher to account. All of this will enable governors to continually drive up standards within our school

The Governing Body have responsibility for raising school standards through their three key roles:

  • Ensuring the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined.
  • Ensuring the Headteacher is held to account for the educational performance of the school.
  • Ensuring sound financial management of the school’s financial resources.

Mrs Janice Wragg

Chair of Govenors

Welcome from the Chair of Governors – Mrs Janice Wragg

On behalf of the Governing body I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone. The Governing body is a group of unpaid volunteers who undertake the role because they wish to support the school and local community. They bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and commitment to the role and, as part of the school team, contribute to the school’s growth and development. Fulfilling the role of a governor is a serious undertaking and enormously rewarding; we see tangible improvements in the success and wellbeing of the students and staff.

Following reconstitution on 2 March 2015 our Governing Body is comprised of 16 members.

The Full Governing Body (FGB) meets formally six times per annum which includes a Budget meeting.

In addition, we have the following committees which meet once a term: Achievement, Pastoral and Resources. Our Strategy committee meets three times per year. These committees report back to the Full Governing Body.

Governors also support the school outside of these formal meetings through the role of the Link Governor. Link Governors are allocated to specific subjects and areas prioritised for improvement. They also support school events and take part in various sub committees and discipline panels as the need arises. The Governing Body is well supported by our Clerk and Governor Services, at the Local Authority. Brimsham Green School buys into training packages to ensure that governors have the knowledge to carry out their roles and specific tasks including the Headteacher’s Appraisal.

If you are inspired to become a governor please contact the school – you can be part of our ambition that we inspire all to excel.

Our Governing Body has sixteen members and three associate member.  We re-constituted on 1st March 2015 and our governing body is made up as follows:
