We continue to be immensely proud of the musical achievements of our students and the department has had much to celebrate in the last year. The Christmas Concert this year involved well over 100 students and included a wide range of both instrumental and vocal groups. At the very end of last year the senior concert band and choir performed a number of concerts in the West Coast of the Netherlands which were very well received by locals. Results at KS4 and KS5 have continued to be outstanding and students have enjoyed the practical focus of our curriculum. The number of students opting to start instrumental or vocal lessons is great to see! House concerts during lunchtimes have been performed to packed student audiences and we enjoy seeing how well students support each other. The school musical production of Rent was a real spectacle and there were so many exceptional student performances and achievements.
Please see the attached pages for specific details of our curriculum at each Key Stage and also for more information on our extra-curricular provision. The music webpages offer a number of useful resources to support exam classes and students’ knowledge of music theory and composition practices.
The department is able to offer high-quality instrumental and vocal lessons, on a range of instruments, delivered by a team of exceptional visiting peripatetic teachers. We are often able to loan out instruments for students starting and lessons are partially subsidised by the school.
